The 3 Pools Challenge finished last Sunday with 90 minutes of drama, excitement and gut wrenching effort. It's our handicapped practice event that either gets the team ready for the 3 Points Challenge race next Saturday at 10.15am at North Curl Curl or finishes the program with a crescendo if the conditions on the day are too difficult for any one.
Derek Chan recorded the best time in this handicapped event with 1.20.20. Great effort Derek. 12 months ago he was back of the pack. He has just kept working over the last 12 months. Excellent.
But this is a handicapped event and the overall winner of the event goes to this years surprise packet.
The race was disrupted and a few wrong turns were made so using the Judges discretion I'm awarding the overall victory to Katie Holmes.
She beat the handicapper with her wonderful effort of 1.26.28. Katie will receive a free week's training for the victory!
But she was not the only winner. Final measures we're taken, revealing more than a metre lost from Hips, Waists and Thighs. Arms have toned up too and some of the boys were proud to record significant increases in Bicep Size. Needless to say we have now ordered Fit4Dreams Singlets to accommodate them!
It's been a 9 week effort with training in running and swimming. Here are some statistics for the team from everyone who recorded some or all of the kilometres covered in their training sessions:
- All Effort Ratings improved significantly as the program went on to all finish above 7, including the diet rating which traditionally hovers at 6.7-6.9.
- The Team Ran 1620km in training;
- The Team Swam over 460km;
Not everyone recorded every session so those figures on the gauges are well below what they really are! Make sure you clear your diary to take your place in our Elite Events Next Year to get a piece of the excitement for yourself!
